Job Coaching
"Assisting the Deaf and Hard of Hearing become independent and well adjusted in the workplace."

Job coaching is a process that assists potential employees, often with a disability, to prepare for, and to find, a job. Job coaches work with their clients through the first 90 days of employment to help them to learn and adjust to their work environment.

DHHS of Lancaster County has introduced a job coaching program to support its mission with the deaf and hard of hearing communities. Many clients are referred by Pennsylvania’s Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR).

DHHS has a team of trained job coaches, all proficient in American Sign Language (ASL), who work with candidates referred to our office. Job Coaches consider both the employer’s and employee’s needs. All clients have a one-to-one relationship with their coach.

Job coaches help clients in many ways, including the following:
  • Preparing a resume
  • Job search
  • Job interviews
  • Transportation logistics
  • Communication between employer and employee
  • Adapting to workplace environment
  • Follow-up services
